About the Author

Amy has been telling stories since her playground days, when dot matrix printers and floppy disks were the height of technology. Nearly all her tales took place in fantastical realms where kids were too busy saving the world to worry about growing up, and included more unicorns than she ever found in her Pennsylvania town.

When adulthood came for her the only magical land she managed to find was Massachusetts, where she studied English at Amherst College. There she first embarked on the annual 30-day writing quest known as NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). In the wondrous, hectic month of November 2004 the first 50,000 words of Phoenix Falling were born. The compulsive need to write a novel every November and make her Thanksgiving break extraordinarily exhausting has stuck with her ever since, leaving her with a folder full of half-finished books she hopes to get around to completing someday.

Although Amy has always dreamed of being a full time novelist, after college she spent eight years working for her favorite non-profit in volunteer management and income development and then four years in sales at a manufacturing company. After a conversation with a colleague made her realize it was time to get serious about her writing, she left her job to rewrite that very first novel—and her life.

Amy loves cats, YA books, and beachside views, and she aspires to one day own a beach house so she can enjoy all three simultaneously.

Now that Phoenix Falling is reaching the end of its teenage years, Amy is looking forward to pushing it out of the nest and into the world. While she’s finishing yet another draft, she’s happily enjoying her best life and hoping to inspire others to follow their dreams and rewrite their lives.
